How do you know when you’ve reached your peak in your career?

One famous observation about this is called “the Peter Principle “ or when you reached your level of incompetence. Simply put is that you are now at a job position where you can no longer get a promotion. That implies you are not doing a good enough job at your present position and hence you are at your level of incompetence. The principle states that you were doing a good job at your previous position and that is why you were promoted to your current position. Your previous position would be your level of competence.

The Principle also states this will eventually happen to everyone. So logic would say in many cases everything is being done by people who are incompetent in their job. Is this why the world is the way it is?
